Welcome to the website of the James Bowie High School Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) in Austin, TX.  Find out how to join our organization today! We are looking for a few volunteers to fill open positions on the Board for the 2010-2011 school year. See below for details! Our PTSA committees also offer many exciting and interesting volunteer opportunities.

The Bowie PTSA usually meets on the second Tuesday of each month of the school year at 6:30pm in the Bulldog room. Please join us at our next meeting!

Bulldogs and Hotdogs 2010 Information

Meeting Tuesday, September 7 at 6:30 pm, Choir Room 
We will finalize location and any last minute details regarding Bulldogs and Hotdogs. 

Bulldogs and Hotdogs will be held Saturday, September 11 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.  Outgoing booster presidents and treasurers, please forward this information to your incoming officers.  

Bowie PTSA Needs you for 2010-2011!

Bowie PTSA is still looking for a few fabulous volunteers to fill open positions on the Board for the 2010-2011 school year.  This is a great way to make a difference at Bowie for Parents, Teachers and Students.  If you are interested, here are some of the positions that we need to fill for the 2010-2011 school year.  Please e-mail Joanna Brown (jgbrown@austin.rr.com) if you are interested or have questions.  Thanks so much for helping to make Bowie the best it can be!

Committees (these positions will report directly to one of the Vice Presidents):

Ancillary Fundraising - responsible for ancillary fundraising

School Beautification - responsible for helping with upgrades to the campus (like flags in the cafeteria, murals, etc.)

Counselor Support - responsible for enlisting weekly volunteers and special project volunteers for the counselor's office throughout the year

Career Days - responsible for coordinating Career Days on campus

Campus Copier Room - responsible for coordinating and organizing volunteers for the campus copier room

“Best High Schools in the Country.”

Bowie High School placed number 820 out of approximately 1600 public high schools in Newsweek magazine’s list of “Best High Schools in the Country.”  The selection is based on how hard school staffs work to challenge their students with advanced-level courses.  For more information, see http://www.newsweek .com/feature/ 2010/americas- best-high- schools.html
