Bowie Blast -- Week of Nov. 11

Bowie Outdoor Performing Ensemble (aka BowieOPE, Marching Band): Over the course of five days, the Bowie Band participated in two marching band contests to conclude the season. At the national level- the Bands of America San Antonio Super Regional Championships, Bowie placed 15th out of the 84 bands in attendance, ending the season ranking 15th in the nation as of this week.
The last two days, Bowie was in attendance for the 2018 UIL 6A Marching Band Championships for 9th consecutive time since 2002. Of the 41 bands in attendance, Bowie OPE ranked 17th, placing in the top one percent of the 240+ 6A bands in the state.
Bands of America Austin: 5th Place Finalist
Bands of America Conroe: 4th Place Finalist
UIL Region 18: 1st Division Rating, advancing to Area
UIL Area D Prelims: 3rd Place Advancing to Finals
UIL 6A State Marching Contest: 17th in 6A State
FFA: Hunter Amidon and Justin Andrade finished 2nd in their fishing tournament. Hannah Shepard was 2nd in district senior creed speaking and will advance to area. FFA senior quizzers Camron Sneed, Mark Fattouh and Hannah Shepard were 3rd in district and Mark Fattouh was 2nd high individual in senior quiz at district.
