Bowie Blast -- Week of Nov. 30

We are proud of our Bulldogs and encourage teachers and coaches to submit news to Mr. Robinson's office!

Bowie Swim & Dive Team: The team competed at the AISD invitational. The boys team came in 3rd place overall while the girls team defended their title and came home with the second consecutive first place overall. With both the boys and girls placing at the top of the meet, the team came home as the overall team champions. Great job, Dawgs!!

Bowie Guitar: Aiden Christiansen made the Austin Region Guitar this year! He will be playing in a concert on Dec 5th. Congrats to Aiden on this great accomplishment!

Bowie Cheer: The James Bowie High School Cheer Program competed at the Universal Cheerleaders Association Regional Competition in Austin. The Freshman cheerleaders placed 2nd in their division. Bowie’s Varsity game day team placed 11th in their division and our Varsity Nationals team placed 1st in their division receiving a bid invitation to Walt Disney World to take their routine to compete nationally. Way to go, Bowie Cheer!

Bowie Band: Congratulations to the Bowie High School Outdoor Performing Ensemble on a successful marching band competition season!

This season, the Bowie Outdoor Performing Ensemble finished in finals at every contest they entered, including an

  • 8th place finish at the BOA Austin Regional,

  • 7th place finish at the Texas Marching Classic

  • and a 1st place finish and champion of the BOA Waco Regional!

At the most competitive marching band contest in the United States, the Bands of America Super Regional in San Antonio, the Bowie Band finished in 11th place out of 84 bands, making finals competing against the best bands in the nation, and giving an amazing performance of their 2019 production entitled, ‘The Apothesosis’. This result helped the Bowie Band to finish the season ranked 20th in the nation.

The Bowie Band students and staff would like to thank the faculty, staff and students and staff for the support this season. What a great accomplishment to the Bowie Band!!

Bowie Orchestra: Bowie had two students made spots in the TMEA Texas All State Orchestras, as well as one alternate. This is a huge honor that only a handful of students in the state get to be a part of. Please congratulate the following students: Grace Gum, viola in All-State Philharmonic Orchestra, Max Scofield, string bass in All-State Band, and Andre Plackis, alternate cello for All-State Band.

Bowie Choir: The following JBHS Choir Students advanced after Pre-Area auditions (the second round of auditions in the TMEA All-State Process). Overall, Bowie Choir had two students that will be moving on to Area auditions and three that have qualified as alternates! Congratulations to the following students on a tremendous job! Advancing: Hannah Cherukuri - 1st Chair (Soprano 1) and Esther Ko - 2nd Chair (Alto 1). Alternates:

Jackson Bloder - 6th chair (Bass 2), Tennyson Tole - 6th Chair (Soprano 2), and Miles Macgregor - 7th chair (Bass 2).
