Bowie Blast - Week of Oct 1

Swim Team: Last Saturday, the Bowie Swim Team raced in an invitational meet at Belton High School. 13 teams competed and Bowie won from the girls and boys side! Everyone swam fast, had the greatest sportsmanship and there were numerous lifetime bests. Congratulations to all swimmers, especially our “Swimmers of the Meet”: Junior, Colton Chalmers, and Freshman, Summer Ferguson. Last Wednesday, the swim team competed in an invitational against Lake Travis, Georgetown, McNeil, and Westwood. This was a highly competitive meet early in our season. The girls placed 3rd and the boys came in 2nd behind Westwood. Congratulations to the "Swimmers of the Meet": senior Elena Montesinos and sophomore Andrew Sampson. Speech and Debate Team: Last weekend, members of the team competed in a virtual TFA State Qualifier hosted by Dulles High School. The team secured their first two state qualifications of the year, Nadia Petru in Humorous Interpretation and First-year competitor, Bella Barkkume, in Humorous Interpretation.
